The surgery has run on the second and fourth Saturday of every month since 1995. It has no agenda, because the agenda is whatever people bring.

How it works

You arrive, you put your name on the list, and you get fifteen minutes. If your question can be answered in the room, it is. If it cannot, it is logged, and you get a written answer within a fortnight — including when the answer is that nothing can be done, and why.

Last year the surgeries logged 2,140 cases across the district. The category counts are published quarterly.

What people bring

The top three, consistently, are childcare hours, school transport and housing waiting-list position. Between them they account for nearly half of everything raised. The rest is spread thin: parking, drainage, licensing, a bin round that has moved.

Nothing is too small for a surgery. The footbridge argument that started the ward assemblies was, at the time, too small for a surgery.

Practical

Step-free, hearing loop, childcare in the side room. Interpreters for Spanish, Polish and Vietnamese are present at every session; tell us if you need another and we will arrange it.
