Summit on Political Influence

Date

Time

11:00 AM to 01:00 PM

Location

Rivermont Civic Hall, 1901 Thornridge Circle

Description

A full day on the mechanics of local influence: not campaigning, but the narrower and more useful question of where in a decision a resident’s intervention still changes the outcome.

The program

  • 11:00Reading a committee paper. Jamal Wright walks a room of non-specialists through the district’s capital budget, line by line.
  • 11:45The seventy-two-hour window. What can be changed after a paper is published and before a vote, with three worked examples from 2024.
  • 12:30Open floor. The agenda for the next summit is set here.

Slides are published the week before, so nobody spends the morning reading along.

Practical

The hall is step-free with a hearing loop. Childcare is available in the annexe for ages two to eleven — tell us numbers when you register so we can staff it. Tea and a proper lunch are provided; there is no charge and there is no collection.

Parking is limited. The 14 and the 22 both stop outside, and the last return service is at 18:40.
